Edward Robert Hughes was a brilliant Pre-Raphaelite artist who produced exhibition-quality studies. Hughes (1849 – 1914) belonged to several prestigious art societies, and depicted mystical, Shakespearean and Italian literary themes with rich golds, blues and sheer fabrics.
