Gure Amir Samarkand Uzbekistan Gure Amir means Tomb of the King It was built in by order of Timur Tamerlane as the mausoleum of his grandson Muhammad Sultan After Timur died on campaign in he was buried in the Gure Amir as well The mausoleum also houses the tombs of Timurs sons Shah Rukh and Miran Shah and another grandson Ulugh Beg
