Photographed by Apollo 11 commander Neil A. Armstrong, astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. walks the moon on July 20, 1969 after the two became the first men to land on the bleak planet. The lunar samples returned to earth by them and five other Apollo teams are slowly revealing the moon's secrets and providing clues on the early history of the earth and solar system.
