Cab Calloway Comes Back. Cab Calloway, the hi-de-ho king, shot to fame in 1931 and remained a big in-person attraction until the late Forties. From 1952 to 1954, he played the role of Sportin' Life in Porgy and Bess. Now, at 50, the famous bandleader is again the talk of the country. He is currently starring in a revue at Miami Beach's cotton Club. the revue, a carbon copy of the production shows that made Harlem's Cotton Club famous, features rising young stars like singer Sallie Blair (with Cab on cover). Cab helped stage this show.
