British artist Brian James fascination with ‘20s and ‘30s poster images is evident in his current works, which demonstrate a contemporary take on the classic travel, fashion and gambling vintage posters. Born in England in 1947, he studied graphic design at Birmingham College of Art where he designed the now familiar images of a Union Jack on a Bowler hat. James was an advertising art director for years before becoming a freelance illustrator in the late ‘70s. He has worked on many national and international advertising campaigns. His work includes illustrations for museums in the U.K., Middle East and the U.S.
