Powerful heartbeats of color propel energy and movement through “Donan 2, 1957 – 1958” by Op Art leader Victor Vasarely. Influenced by Constructivism, Cubism and Surrealism, Vasarely (1908 – 1997) transformed nature into geometric shapes and adjacent colors that appeared to pulse. Drawing inspiration from physics, biochemistry and magnetic fields, he believed that color and form were identical, and created non-traditional images intended to inspire unlimited interpretations. One of the 20th century’s foremost painters, Vasarely produced innovations that profoundly impact today’s artists.
The respected leader of the Op Art movement, Victor Vasarely (1908 – 1997) is universally acknowledged as one of the 20th century’s artistic geniuses. Influenced by Constructivism, Cubism and Surrealism, the Hungarian-born Vasarely created an artistic language that transformed nature into geometric shapes and vibrating, adjacent colors. Filled with the optical illusion of movement, his works were inspired by numerous scientific fields. Vasarely’s art was widely reproduced in the 1960s, and is still featured in the contemporary collections of almost every major art museum worldwide.

  • Serigraph
  • This serigraph is an artisan print with a stunning paint-like vibrancy and viscosity. Also known as screen printing or silk screening, serigraphy is a printing process by which inks are forced through a mesh screen and applied to the surface of the print. The result is a brilliantly hued work of art that retains its beauty for a lifetime.
