    A forest becomes a tapestry of light and color revealing a mosaic of forest life in Albert Bierstadt’s “Dogwood.” Born in Germany, Bierstadt (1830 – 1902) founded the Rocky Mountain School of Landscape Painting through his precise, natural and light-drenched artworks. Inspired by the beauty of Western scenery during cross-country trips, Bierstadt painted huge, dramatic images of the Rocky Mountains and Yosemite with the hope of recreating their splendor for Easterners.
