Product Information
The sculpture “Cupid and Psyche, 1796” by Antonio Canova romantically conveys tenderness, yearning and the euphoria of fulfilled desires. Born in Italy, Canova (1757 – 1822) was an unsurpassed Neoclassical sculptor. His piece is based upon a 2nd century story, in which the Roman god Cupid revives his dying lover, Psyche, with a kiss. Their jubilant embrace, chiseled into a 5-foot-high statue, reflected that era’s fashion and a rekindled interest in Antiquity. It is now part of the Louvre’s permanent collection. This fine art print is produced on Forest Stewardship Council certified paper, using post-consumer and sustainably sourced paper, and soy-based inks.
