Crystal Downs Country Club, in Frankfort, Mich., was designed by Alister Mackenzie and Perry Maxwell. This challenging links course features fescue greens and rolling fairways, along with well-placed bunkers to keep players on their toes. Dom Furore, a Senior Staff photographer at Golf Digest, showcases one of the greens surrounded by bunkers with the sunrise behind it in this lovely photo. Crystal Downs is ranked No. 10 on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Golf Courses 2007-08 list.
