Cascade de la Folie, Chamoni, 1849, by John Ruskin, watercolor painting. The falling water is also called the Torrent de Blaitière. The drawings for this painting were made from the Hotel de LUnion, about a mile away from the waterfalls, in the town of Chamonix. Ruskin is presumed to have used binoculars to study the landscape detail and is known that he referred to daguerreotype photograph he took of the scene. (BSLOC_2023_4_6)
