A moose drifts like a fabled, storybook creature through the snowy, wooded stillness of Stephen Lyman’s “A Walk in the Woods.” A wilderness explorer, Lyman (1962 – 1996) painted nature’s subtle, elusive moments, inspired by a childhood spent hiking the Pacific Northwest’s Snake River. Drawn back to the wilderness after a stint as a commercial illustrator in Los Angeles, Lyman regularly exhibited at many art shows, and was named as one of the country’s best artists by “U.S. Art Magazine.”
