17th century oil painting of a marine parade in which grand ships of the Dutch East India Company convene under cloudy skies at the Dutch port of Flushing to mark the arrival of a dignitary. Created on oak panel in 1649 by Jan van de Cappelle, this artwork is detailed in terms of depicting a cannon firing a salute, dolphins swimming in the waters, the ships riggings and darker clouds overhead and lighter clouds beyond.
